The Pub

In line with our centuries of history, the food and drink
at The Swan Inn is rustic, unfussy and proudly rooted
in the classics.

We source the finest seasonal ingredients from artisanal producers — whether our South Downs lamb, which comes from local farmer Jeremy Way, two miles from our doorstep, to our Wild Flower honey from the local orchard down the road.

Our Menus

Our menu is constantly evolving, but you’ll always find a cheeseburger, or a generous slab of farmhouse cheddar served with our ploughman’s lunch. We roll with the seasons, turning to hearty braises and suet crust pies in the colder days of winter, and grilled fish — caught that morning — and simple vegetables dishes in summer.

We believe that no truly English meal is ever complete without a pudding. We serve a range of staples, including the Sussex Pond pudding, which is steamed and oozing with lemony butter and sugar.

Drinks

We stock a wide array of beers and ciders — as any good country pub should. In keeping with our ethos, our taps are dominated by British breweries, particularly those local to Sussex.

Our wine list ranges from the classic to the quirky and is focused on European producers, alongside a smattering from the New World. We work with winemakers who produce high quality wine with minimal intervention.

We also keep a number of ‘off-menu’ bottles in the cellar, so do ask to see our ‘other’ list if you’d like to take a look.

The Barn

For larger tables of between 12 and 24 people, we offer
a set feasting menu, served in The Barn. The feasting menu is made up of sharing dishes, ranging from slow roasted joints of meat to whole fish and classic one-pot wonders.

The Barn is also bookable for corporate events with high speed internet and presentation facilities.
